About Me

Hola, I’m Luisa.

Isla De Los Lobos

My mission is to share the beautiful Island of Fuerteventura Canary Islands with you and help you get the most out of visiting, holidaying or living on this stunning, sun-drenched isle.

MY STORY

If you have visited the island or lived here for a while, then you will probably have bumped into me at some point. Many of you will know me as the Owner and Editor ( or ‘The Ed’ ) of The Voice Fuerteventura Magazine. But for those of you that don’t. I am an Ex Holiday Rep and Entertainer, who switched my corporate life in the UK for a life in the sunshine and have lived and worked in Fuerteventura since 2008.

A HELPING HAND

Visiting a new place or settling into a new life in a different country, can be daunting. There are lots of things to get to grips with from understanding the language to unraveling the legal ‘red-tape’. Even a trip to the supermarket or chemist can be difficult when the items on the shelves are not what you are used to seeing, and trying to navigate the house buying market, visiting the doctor or understanding what to do with your pension, can just seem like an endless uphill battle. But all of these things can be dealt with quickly and easily as long as you have the right know-how how or contacts.

As Albert Einstein so cleverly said….

“Intelligence is not the ability to store information but to know where to find it”

…. And that is exactly what I intend for this website to do.

I LOVE FUERTEVENTURA

I love this island, it’s people, the climate, the culture, the food, the views, the language and everything that Fuertentura Canary Islands has to offer and I want to share everything I know with you, so that you too can fall in love with Fuerteventura and enjoy every minute of your stay, whether it be a brief visit or a new place to call home.

Throughout the pages on this website, I will cover all kinds of things. Some will be aimed at holiday makers so you can get the very best out of your vacation and really get to explore and understand the island, others will be created especially for the Ex-Pats that call this place home and the repeat visitors and swallows who migrate here during the winter months.

Over the last 12 years I have met some very well-informed and interesting people, many of which became contributors or writers for my magazine, who created informative and compelling articles to help you understand the island better and make things easier for you. Many of these articles will be included within these pages, as let’s face it… if you need to know something, then the best place to start is someone with the know-how and experience – And that is exactly what all of the team here at fuerteventuracanaryislands.com and thevoicefuerteventura.com have.

The articles included within the fuerteventuracanaryislands.com website will cover everything from local island traditions, history and recipes to holiday excursions, locations, flora and fauna, gardening, fun things to pass the time and everything in between, including how to get and maintain that perfect tan! But, as I am creating this site for you ( dear readers ) please get in touch if there is something that I have missed or anything you would like more information about. I love an excuse to grab my camera, jump in the car and go exploring around the island, so If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Saludos

Luisa A.K.A The Ed
